Intellipeak Ac/Dc Pulse Charger
Duratrax DTXP4100 - Intellipeak Ac/Dc Pulse Charger
This is an IntelliPeak AC/DC Pulse Charger for Charging/Discharging Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) and Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) Battery Packs. Note: Do Not Discharge Battery Cells smaller than Sub-C Size ("Sub-C" is one size smaller than a "C" size). *** Five-Year Warranty ***
FEATURES:
Peak charges Nickel-Cadmium batteries using specialized peak charging technology as well as Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries, plus Discharging and Cycling features not commonly found in other chargers. "Negative Delta V" Peak Detection for NiCds and NiMHs Built-in Artificial Intelligence to eliminate false peaks Auto-identifies the quantity of cells being charged Computerized control, 8-bit 4MHz CPU with 8K ROM, 1K RAM, 1-channel 16-bit analog-to-digital converter. High efficiency P-Channel MOSFET drive transistors 11-15V DC input Built-in AC Power Supply Output: 4-7 cells on DC, 4-8 cells on AC Adjustable fast Charge current of .5-4A AC, .5-6.5A DC (Note: 3A maximum Charge rate recommended with NiMH packs.) Pulsed fast Charge, with 8-bit pulse width modulated current control output. 100mA TRICKLE Charge 1A fixed Discharge rate. Fixed 2.60V Discharge cutoff voltage- (see COMMENTS). Not designed for Discharging A or AA size (and smaller) cells (see COMMENTS). Cycle functions: Select a single Discharge/Charge cycle for periodic pack conditioning, or continuous "auto-repeat" cycles for reviving batteries that have developed a memory, or breaking in a new pack. Four multi-function, high intensity LED indicators. Status light glows during charge, flashes when nearing peak. Audible mode select tone signals for easy set-up Reverse polarity and fused overload protection Designed to charge sub-C battery packs.

COMMENTS:
Discharging cells smaller than sub-C size: Do NOT Discharge Cells which are Smaller than Sub-C Size. This is to include A and AA size (and smaller) cells which are normally installed inside radio transmitters and so on. The Discharge current rate of the IntelliPeak is too high for such smaller cells and the wiring used to assemble such packs. Failing to avoid this will likely cause permanent damage to the cells and/or wiring in the battery packs, and possibly the equipment in which the battery is installed. Fixed Discharge cutoff voltage- The IntelliPeak Charger has a fixed Discharge cutoff voltage setting of 2.6V, which is not adjustable. If a specific Discharge cutoff value other than 2.6V is desired, monitor the pack voltage during Discharge with a separate voltmeter (or the built-in LCD on the IntelliPeak Digital Pulse Charger) and manually terminate Discharge at such point as desired. NiMH Battery Care and Handling: It is important that NiMH batteries not overheat while being charged. Heat can adversely affect the performance of NiMH packs. If overheating is observed, disconnect the pack from the charger immediately and reduce the charge rate for future charging needs. -Also, Do Not Deep-Cycle NiMH batteries. Permanent damage could result. Store NiMH packs with some voltage remaining in the cells. -Use a NiMH battery pack no more than three cycles per day, with a two to three hour break in-between for cooling. More frequent use will likely overheat the pack. WARNING: Do Not leave charger unattended during fast charge. If the battery or charger becomes hot at any time, disconnect the battery from the charger immediately. -Do Not charge 4 or 5 cell batteries at a rate greater than 4.5A as this could cause excessive heating in the charger itself. Other IntelliPeak Chargers Comparison- All IntelliPeak Chargers-except DTXP4150 IntelliPeak Twin-include: Ability to charge NiCd and NiMH packs. Adjustable pulsed current. Cycling functions (single cycle: periodic conditioning of regularly used batteries, and auto-repeat cycle: for deep conditioning of new or unused batteries. Four multi-function LEDs and audible tones to ease setup. CPU driven. *Each one builds up to the next one: -Pulse Charger: AC/DC input, 1A Discharge rate, great for racers and sport modelers alike. -Mini Pulse Charger: Builds on the Pulse Charger's features with DC input, detachable AC power supply...charger itself is very small, great for portability, 2A Discharge rate, 1 built-in cooling fan. Note: This charger will only go down to a 1A charge rate (The other chargers go down to .5A). -Deluxe Pulse Charger: Adds to the Mini Pulse Charger's features with DC input, detachable AC power supply. 2 and 10A Discharge rate (faster Discharge ability). Negative Delta V (for NiCds) and Zero Delta V (for NiMHs) peak technologies, auto-selects. High rate charging for high-capacity NiMH packs. Two built-in cooling fans. -Digital Pulse Charger: Includes all of the Deluxe model's features plus LCD readout that shows battery voltage, Charge current, and Discharge capacity in milliamps.
