This thinner, 1.6mm top plate (option part) will allow more torsional flex in the chassis. It may be used in very low grip conditions in combination with the graphite chassis to allow the most torsional flex, giving more traction for the low grip conditions.
It may also be used in high grip conditions in combination with the stiffer aluminum chassis (option part) to add a bit more torsional flex for more consistent handling.
