Tuning information directly from Associated:
"We have received a few reports of people having trouble using the Associated
shocks as replacement for the t-maxx. Please read the hints following in case
you need help adapting our shocks.
RIDE HEIGHT If you are attempting to achieve the same ride height as
the stock set up, you will need to add .240" more pre-load spacers than
we show in the instructions. However, in our opinion, the ride height of
the stock truck is high and is not good for the overall handling of the
truck.
SHOCK TRAVEL In addition, our shock allows .115" of increased
compressed travel and the extended travel is increased by .060" .
Because of the extended travel over the stock shocks, for "on road" you
should add #6466 travel limiters to the inside of the shocks. This will cut
down on the chassis roll and will substantially aid handling. We are not
indicating how many of these limiters to use as that will vary for each
driver''s needs and you will probably need several packages of the
limiters to accommodate all of the shocks on the truck.
SHOCK OILS AND PISTONS In addition, you may want to experiment
with different weight shock oils as well as pistons. For instance, we say
to use the #1 pistons in the kit instructions but you may want to go to #3
pistons for on road use. This will cut down on the chassis roll and will
aid handling on flat, smooth surfaces such as parking lots. However, this
may not be good for rough off road use, which is where most will run
their T-Maxx.
